Work Experience:

  • Joined Indian Statistical Service in December, 1983 and retired in September, 2017(33+ years) service. Have vast experience in Planning, Designing of survey instruments, Coordination and Implementation of large scale surveys and have excellent man management skills and confidence working within a dynamic environment.
  • Remained member for committees related to Socio-economic surveys for finalizing the survey instruments.
  • Finalized around 24 manuals on various Statistical Indicators.
  • Implemented & organized large scale Socio-economic surveys in the field.

To implement Plan Scheme; “India Statistical Strengthening Project (ISSP). Under the scheme worked as Director and Deputy Director General in the Project Support Group on the India Statistical Strengthening Project (ISSP) and the ISSP Unit functioning in the Central Statistics Office (CSO) under the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MOS&PI) during 2004 to 2013 and steered the project from pre-appraisal level to preparation of India/State Strategic Statistical Plans (I/SSSPs) to approval of the project; till the implementation of the ISSP in first 10 States. Developed i) Memorandum of Understating to be signed with the states, ii) an effective Monitoring and Evaluation System for ISSP and iii) finalization of Proforma for Annual & Quarterly Progress Reports to be forwarded by States/UTs to MOS&PI on implementation of SSSP, as per the Memorandum of Understanding and iv) Preparation of guidelines for Standardization of ICT Architecture, associated Platforms etc. across the Statistical Systems of the States/UTs.

  • Worked in the regional offices, National Sample Survey Office, Field Operations Division, NSSO(FOD) Jammu & Jalandhar, as head, to oversee the field work relating to various large scale Socio-economic surveys being carried out by NSSO for about two years. The field work was closely monitored to collect the quality data from the field.
